Life-Long Learning

Learning is a gift that is made available to us each day. Whether it is through experiences, relationships, opportunities, taking in new knowledge, etc. we should always embrace the chance to learn.

Learning is not a process that starts or ends with school, but something that is ongoing. In order to continue learning outside of school, we must have an open mind, be eager, and be curious.

One of the best ways to continue learning is through reading. There is a quote from Dr. Seuss that says, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Each year, First United chooses a list of books for our recommend reading list that we share with all of our stakeholders. Each of the books on this list represents one of our four pillars: Faith, Financial-Well Being, Personal Growth, and Health & Wellness. Here are the recommended books from last year and new books for this year:

Faith
2017 - “Wild at Heart” by John Eldredge
2018 - “Not a Fan” by Kyle Idleman

Financial Well-Being
2017 - “Total Money Makeover” by Dave Ramsey
2018 - “The Millionaire Next Door” by Thomas J. Stanley & Dr. William D. Danko

Personal Growth
2017 - “The Power of TED” by David Emerald
2018 - “The Gifts of Imperfection” by Brene Brown

Health & Wellness
2017 - “52 Small Changes: One Year to a Happier, Healthier You” by Brett Blumenthal
2018 - “Younger Next Year” by Chris Crowley

I encourage you all to grab a copy of one (or all) of these books this year and continue your learning. When we commit to being life-long learners and continue to engage in learning, we can make a greater impact on ourselves and others.
