Black Friday

With the Thanksgiving holiday comes family gatherings, good eating, and a time for us all to reflect on what we are thankful for. For many of us, the Thanksgiving holiday also brings the lingering mindset of “I need to get this” and “I want that,” in anticipation for the next holiday, Christmas.

We all know the infamous Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales directly follow the Thanksgiving holiday. So while we are all celebrating what we are thankful for and enjoying the company of our loved ones, retail stores and workers are hard at work preparing to help you spend some money in the days to follow.

Hunting down the greatest deals on Christmas gifts can still be fun and part of your holiday tradition, but this week I challenge you to take a step back and change your mindset from “I need” and “I want” to something more like, “Does this fit into my financial budget”?

I recently saw an article on Dave Ramsey’s website that shares 7 Ways to Stay Sane This Black Friday. His best piece of advice, “Stay inside your budget and have fun!”

So this year, before you set out on the adventure to find the best deal, make sure you and your budget are ready. For more tips to help you stick to your budget this Christmas, check out our article called “Steps to Creating and Sticking to a Holiday Budget.”
